Main Article Content
Abstract
The 8th Annual International Quranic Conference (MUQADDAS 8) was convened in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, organized through a strategic partnership between the Centre for Quranic Research at the University of Malaya and the King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Chair for the Holy Quran at Umm Al-Qura University. The conference centered on the theme "Achieving Human Happiness through Quranic Guidance," seeking to restore the primary objective of the Revelation—Guidance (Hidayah)—and to address methodological gaps in contemporary studies that may overlook the connection between the Quranic text and lived reality. The event saw broad international participation from researchers representing over 20 countries, with 87 peer-reviewed papers accepted from 132 submitted abstracts. These covered five primary axes: scholarly grounding of Quranic guidances, methodologies for engaging with them, their role in the advancement of the Ummah, and various applied studies and development projects.
The conference findings emphasized the necessity of transitioning from theoretical exegesis to the practical implementation of Quranic guidances to achieve human happiness and well-being. Participants issued strategic recommendations calling for the dissemination of the "culture of guidance" within educational environments and the establishment of academic partnerships across various disciplines to enrich Quranic research. Furthermore, the conference stressed the importance of transforming research outputs into applied technological and media models, creating specialized bibliographic databases, and qualifying scholarly cadres capable of deducing guidances (Istinbat al-Hidayat) to provide Quranic solutions to contemporary issues in both Muslim and non-Muslim societies.
