Abstract
This report presents a comprehensive overview of two complementary scholarly works: first, the primer 'Al-Tamheer fi Usul Al-Tafsir' (A Primer in the Fundamentals of Qur'anic Interpretation), a concise memorisation text composed to facilitate the study of the most important issues in the science of exegetical principles, filling a gap in the absence of such primers in this field compared to other Islamic disciplines; and second, 'Al-Tahbir Sharh Al-Tamheer fi Usul Al-Tafsir' (Al-Tahbir: An Explanation of Al-Tamheer in the Fundamentals of Interpretation), a mid-level commentary authored by the same scholar to elucidate the primer's content, clarify its issues, and illustrate them with carefully selected examples. The core problem addressed is the scarcity of memorisable primers in exegetical principles relative to other religious sciences, and the need for a methodical commentary suitable for university and institute curricula. The works cover the definition, sources, importance, ruling, and virtue of the science of tafsir; the various methods of interpretation; consensus and disagreement in tafsir; the rules of interpretation; and the conditions and ethics of the exegete. Notable features include mind maps, verse compositions facilitating memorisation, compliance with national academic accreditation standards, and adoption as a course text in multiple universities.
