report on a scientific thesis entitled"Meditating on the Noble Koran"
Main Article Content
Abstract
This scientific thesis addresses the subject of meditating on the Noble Qur'an (Tadabbur) through a comprehensive study that examines the linguistic and terminological definition of the concept, establishes its legal ruling, and lays down the methodological controls governing its practice. The researcher sought to clarify the semantic distinctions between Tadabbur and related Qur'anic terms such as interpretation (Tafsir), deduction (Istinbat), contemplation (Tafakkur), and reflection (Ta'ammul), demonstrating that these terms are closely related but not synonymous.
The thesis affirms that meditating on the Noble Qur'an is a religious obligation upon every Muslim according to their understanding and cognitive capacity, and that scholars stipulate the coupling of Tadabbur with practical action and benefit as an essential condition distinguishing it from other forms of engagement with the Qur'anic text. Employing an inductive-descriptive-analytical methodology, the researcher collected and analyzed Qur'anic verses, Prophetic hadiths, and scholarly opinions related to the subject. The thesis comprises three main chapters: the first on the concept, ruling, and controls of Tadabbur; the second on its motivations; and the third on its obstacles. Among the key conclusions: the methodology of the pious predecessors in Tadabbur rests on the twin pillars of understanding and action, and that faith in God, love of Him, and reverence for Him are the strongest motivators for achieving genuine spiritual Tadabbur.
