Preamble: Ethics of Publication

Tadabbur Journal adopts standard ethics of publication, based on the guidelines for conduct and best practices for journal editors stipulated by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).  Accordingly, a great attention will be paid to detecting plagiarism, data fabrication and falsification, needless publications, improper author contribution, citation manipulation, and duplicate submission. All parties involved in the publication process (authors, editors, reviewers, publishers) shall comply to do so. The following items are among the publishing ethics:

  1. Features of Academic Researcher

The academic researcher must have certain features including but not limited to:

  • Good intention and noble objectives during preparing the research.

  • Commitment to academic honesty.

  • Fairness and objectivity.

  • Efficiency in collecting information from paper and digital sources and references.

  • The ability to analyze information, conclude, and provide constructive criticism.

  1. Features of Academic Research

The academic research must have certain characteristics. The most significant ones are as follows:

  • Research originality and being free from plagiarism or exaggerated quotation.

  • Originality, diversity and sufficiency of sources and references.

  • Novelty and academic addition. The concept of novelty differs according to  different academic disciplines, and the required level of novelty varies based on the different stages for which the research was prepared. This depends on the academic custom within the framework of rules and regulations.

  • Clarity of research objectives.

  • The academic methodology considered in preparing the research.

  • Clarity of the research title and its indication of the content of the research.

  • The depth of the academic treatment of the research subject.

  • Not to provide any unacademic criticism against any institution or individual.

  • Language correctness, style quality, and clarity of ideas.

  • Not exceeding the internationally permitted citation percentage.

  • The research is to be free from all practices contradicting the ethics of academic research, most notably:

  • Inference: It is the academic work in which the author relies on a previous academic work, such as the master’s thesis, doctoral dissertations, or otherwise. Inference does not include the researches submitted by a faculty member for promotion and excluded by the Academic Council for being weak, then the faculty member modified and get them reviewed again.

  • Plagiarism: It is the academic work whose author relies on the work of others, and attributes it to himself.

  • Fraud: It is the provision of misleading information or results; to obscure the truth.

  • Exaggerated Quotation: Exaggerated literal quotation from sources with attributing it to such sources. The allowed quotation percentage varies according to different disciplines and academic levels. The permissible percentage here is: 15:20% as a maximum, on condition that it does not exceed 5% from a single source.

 

  1. Ethics of Academic Research Achievement

the most important liabilities the researcher must adhere to in preparing or publishing his research include the following:

  • Relating the research to publication fields of the journal.

  • Accuracy in preparing the research and adherence to the methodology appropriate to its subject and academic specialization.

  • Take statistics from their sources and adhere to accuracy in monitoring them.

  • Commitment to academic honesty, attributing texts and ideas to their original authors according to the methodology followed in citation, and avoiding unnecessarily exaggerated quoting.

  • Accuracy in analyzing research findings, and not distorting or exaggerating such findings, or concealing academic facts that have been reached.

  • Formulating the research findings, and the recommendations and studies that researchers can take up to complete the subject of the study.

  • Giving researchers and assistant participants their rights of the issue in which the research was published.

 

  1. Liabilities of the Research against the Journal:

  • The submitted research is be the original work of the author.

  • The researcher is to submit only unpublished research and acknowledge the same.

  • The researcher is to indicate whether the research is financially supported.

  • The research must be related to the journal publication fields.

  • The researcher must adhere to the implementation of the rules and conditions of publication in the journal as well as the international ethical standards.

  • The paper will be examined by the reviewers by means of plagiarism software; to find out the percentages of citation in the research.

  • Sending the research via the journal's e-mail: [email protected].

  • The researcher attaches to the research the First Pledge  (Form 1), and the pledge of extraction from master's thesis or PhD dissertation in case that the research was extracted from a master's thesis or PhD dissertation (Form 2).

  • The researcher shall sign a pledge to guarantee the publishing rights of the journal (Form 3).

  • Then, the procedures of the research review. The three forms are available on the journal's website: https://tadabburmag.sa/cmds.php?action=inpage111

  • After reviewing the research, the researcher shall send the revised research by e-mail, along with the report of the amendments, which explains what has been done in each note or the answer to it.

  • The researcher must use the journal account on the Open Journals System 2.4.8.5, which is an Open Source System for managing academic publishing, developed, supported and distributed for free via the link General Knowledge Project under the GNU General Public License.: Open Journal Systems (tadabburmag.sa)

 

  1. Liabilities of the Editorial Board

  • Tadabbur Journal adopts Rules of Professional Conduct stipulated by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) for the Code of Conduct and Best Practices for the Journal's editors.  Accordingly, all parties involved in the publication process (authors, editors, reviewers, publishers) shall comply to  the ethical conduct standards and agree on them.

  • On receiving of the research, the Editorial Board shall ensure that there is no conflict of interest with the research subject or the authors, or anything else.

  • All papers are assessed fairly based on the intellectual content of the paper regardless of gender, race, citizenship, or any other non-academic considerations, such as publication fees or exemption status as all these cases do not affect the assessment of the research whether to accept it or not.

  • The Editorial Board prohibits the acceptance or publication of any paper violating the applicable international legal requirements regarding defamation, copyright infringement, and plagiarism.

  • The information related to the research and researchers shall be kept confidential and shall not used for any commercial purposes or personal gain. The Editorial Board shall take the necessary measures to preserve that before and after the review process.

  • The editorial management shall be responsible for making publishing decisions in relation to the papers submitted to the journal after the reviewers' assessment.

  • The journal may not publish the research even after being approved for review and publication if the journal considers the public interest is to do so.

 

  1. Liabilities of the Reviewers

  • Upon receiving the research, the reviewer shall report any significant conflict of interest with the subject of the research, and refrain from review and inform the Editorial Board of that.

  • The reviewers shall assess papers fairly based on the intellectual content of the research regardless of gender, race, citizenship, or any other non-academic considerations, or the authors.

  • The reviewers shall assess papers and its compliance with the academic and technical requirements of the journal.

  • The reviewers shall inform the Editorial Board if they find any possible violations or incidents that violate international ethical standards.

  • The reviewers shall assess the research based on academic criteria and clarify this with supporting arguments. Personal criticism against the researcher is prohibited.

  • All information related to the research and researchers shall be kept confidential and shall not used for any commercial purposes or personal gain. The Editorial Board shall take the necessary measures to preserve that before and after the review process.

  • Any information that may be a reason for rejecting to publish a paper must be disclosed and communicated to the Editorial Board.

 

  1. Intellectual Property Rights of Tadabbur

  • Property of the academic papers published in the journal shall be subject to the laws and regulations valid in Saudi Arabia, represented by the Ministry of Media. To review the Ministry's regulations for the Publications and Publishing Law: Publications and Publishing Law | The Ministry of Media (media.gov.sa). In addition,  the journal shall be subject to the implementing regulations of this law, for review: the executive regulations of the latest publications and publishing law (media.gov.sa)

  • Furthermore,  Tadabbur also subject to the implementing and procedural rules of the journal, available on the journal's website: tadabburmag.sa/cmds.php?action=inpage113

 

  1. Open Access Policy:

  • Property of papers and journal hard and electronic research and issues shall subject to the Creative Commons License: Tadabbur Journal©2016 licensed under non-commercial attribution: 4 International. According to the Creative Commons License, the journal shall be digitally available online for free. Accordingly, there are no fees required to download any publication from the journal's website by authors, readers, and institutions. Users are allowed to read, download, or search for full texts of research, without seeking prior permission from the publisher or author, but for noncommercial use.

  • It is not allowed to independently republish any paper that was published in the journal in part or in whole, whether in Arabic or translated into foreign languages, without the prior written approval of the editor-in-chief.

 

  1. Retracting Publication or Withdrawing Research Policy:

  • In case any false allegations of authorship, scientific theft, or data plagiarism against the researcher are proven to be true, the journal may withdraw the review or publish the paper.  

  • The researcher may withdraw the paper without paying any fees if it is not reviewed.

  • The journal may charge the review fees if the researcher requests to withdraw the research after the review.

    1. Preparing the Research for Review and Publication:

  • The editorial management shall send a notice to the researcher on receiving his / her research.

  • The research is sent to the Editorial Board for a preliminary examination of the research to make the appropriate decision; either to be reviewed or rejected.

  • Accepting to send the research for review in its current form, and its suitability for the fields of publication in the journal.

  • The Editorial Board may reject the research before review; whether with comments from the committee or not .

  • The Editorial Board may request academic or technical modifications to the research prior to the review proceedings.

  • At least two reviewers shall be selected from the list of reviewers for each paper.

  • In case the research is rejected by both reviewers, a letter of apology shall be sent to the researcher.

  • In case the results of the academic reports of the reviewers differ; It is presented to the Editorial Board for consideration and selecting a third reviewer rejecting the paper.

If the paper is accepted by the reviewers, the following shall be done:

  • Sending the amendments required by the reviewers to the researcher on his/her paper via e-mail.

  • Sending a Conditional Acceptance Letter to the researcher to ensure making the modifications.

  • After receiving the amended research from the researcher, it is ensured that the modifications have been made. In case that the required modifications are not made, they are sent to the researcher again. In case the amendments are not made for the second time, the research shall be rejected.

  • In case the required amendments are made according to the instructions of the Editorial Board:

  • Final acceptance of the research by the Editorial Board.

  • Sending an Official Acceptance Letter to publish the research, specifying the issue in which it will be published or not. The Editorial Board may delay or advance the paper publication research according to the priorities of publication in the journal.

  • Determine the research that will be published in the next issue based on the list of publishing priorities.

  • The order of papers published in the journal shall subject to technical considerations.

  • Preparing the papers accepted for publication, linguistically and technically, before submitting them for printing.

  • Sending the issue for paper publication.

  • Uploading the issue on the journal's website and making it available in its approved databases.

  • Sending five copies or offprints of the journal to each researcher in the issue in which his research was published.

 

  1. Self-Archiving Policy

  • Self-Archiving Policy of Tadabbur allows researchers to deposit their papers after printing (accepted copy) and publisher's copy in "PDF" format in institutional archive  and content-based archives, such as arXiv or archive, and publish it on the researcher's personal website (including social networking sites and knowledge base sites: ResearchGate, Academia.edu, google scholar, mandumah, emarefa etc. at any time after publication. Full bibliographic information about the original source (researcher, research title, journal data: volume, issue, date, pages) must be provided.

 

  1. Marketing and Publishing:

  • The journal shall be electronically available for free on the journal's official website. The hard copy shall be sold in publishing houses and bookstores.

  • Currently, there are no subscription fees for the journal.

  • The journal apologizes for not considering papers not complying with the rules and regulations of publication.

  • All research submitted for publication is subject to evaluation according to the followed academic principles.

 

  1. The Journal’s Sources of Revenue and its Financial System:

  • The journal depends on its revenues on the following:

    • Selling and marketing the journal's issues in libraries, publishing houses, and local and international exhibitions.

    • Annual journal subscriptions for institutions and individuals.

    • Donations allocated to the journal.

 

  1. The Journal’s Website

  • Publication Copyright on the journal's website is reserved for the Tadabbur Journal, according to the mentioned above Creative Commons Statement.

  • The domain of the journal's website: registered by the Saudi Network Information Center (Saudi NIC) by the agent: (d net.)

 

  1. Statement of Privacy:

The names of persons and email addresses maintained on Tadabbur Journal website shall be used exclusively for the purposes stated by the Journal and shall not be made available for any other purposes or to any third party.
