Abstract
The Fourth World Conference on Quranic Studies, held in 2017, featured in-depth discussions on the theme "Justice and Benevolence in the Holy Quran and the Prophetic Sunnah." Organized in Europe, it brought together scholars and researchers from around the world to enhance understanding of Islamic ethical and social dimensions through Quranic and Prophetic heritage. Sessions focused on interpreting Quranic verses emphasizing justice as a foundation for social life, such as "Indeed, Allah orders justice and good conduct" (An-Nahl: 90), and linking them to the Sunnah through the Prophet's sayings (PBUH) on benevolence towards creation. Participants addressed the application of these principles to contemporary issues like human rights, social justice, and peaceful coexistence in multicultural societies.
The conference included workshops and debates on Quranic methodology, stressing contemplation and contextual interpretation. Over 50 research papers were presented, covering topics such as justice in Islamic judiciary, benevolence in family and international relations. It also highlighted women's role in promoting justice and benevolence, calling for educational programs to raise youth awareness. The event concluded with recommendations for establishing joint research centers between East and West to foster civilizational dialogue. This gathering marks a significant step toward deepening global Quranic studies, contributing to building more just and benevolent societies.
