Report on "The Qur'an: Knowledge and Action" Project

Abstract

This report presents a comprehensive overview of "The Qur'an: Knowledge and Action" project, a scholarly applied initiative aimed at reviving the Prophetic methodology in engaging with the Noble Qur'an. The project originated from examining the methodology by which the Companions learned the Qur'an, as they would study ten verses and not proceed until they learned the knowledge and action contained therein. The project is built on two fundamental pillars: a conceptual-foundational axis for inductively studying and analyzing Qur'anic terminology related to contemplation (tadabbur), and a practical-skill-based axis for examining the Prophet's ﷺ and his Companions' methodology in engaging with the Qur'an. The project includes vertical programs (such as contemplating words, verses, and chapters) and horizontal programs (such as contemplating cosmic signs, parables, narratives, and Prophetic biography), in addition to complementary programs like "The Sunnah: Knowledge and Action" and the Young Contemplator curriculum. The project has achieved tangible accomplishments by establishing specialized Qur'anic institutions, training over ten thousand participants, publishing numerous books and scholarly materials, and participating in international conferences, where the Young Contemplator curriculum won first place globally as the best contemplative approach. The project aspires to realize its vision that every Muslim worldwide applies the Prophetic methodology in engaging with the Qur'an within ten years.
