Abstract
This scholarly report presents a doctoral dissertation titled "Tadabbur al-Qur’an: A Foundational Study", defended at the College of the Qur’an and Islamic Studies at the Islamic University of Madinah. The study aims to systematically and academically ground the concept of Tadabbur (deep reflection on the Qur’an), distinguishing it from overlapping concepts such as tafsir (exegesis), contemplation, and pondering.
The researcher employed an analytical approach, examining Qur’anic discourse alongside classical exegetical and linguistic sources. The study outlines the legal and methodological foundations of Tadabbur, its various forms, and its impact on the development of the Muslim character. Among the key findings is that Tadabbur is a devotional practice firmly rooted in the Qur’an and Sunnah, deeply connected to real-life contexts, and one of the most powerful tools for cultivating religious and intellectual awareness.
The dissertation recommends incorporating "Qur’anic Tadabbur" into both general and higher education curricula, training teachers and preachers in its practical methods, and establishing dedicated centers to apply its principles in public life.
